How to build a Portable Solar Panel From Parts in your Garage is a new idea being explored these days. My research has shown that most of the components required for this project may already exist in your garage collecting dust. Here is a small list of parts that you need that just may be in your back yard tool shed or garage.

  • Bucket of Nuts,How to Build a Portable Solar Panel From Parts in Your Garage Articles Bolts and Screws - Someone with OCD (Occupational Compulsive Disordered) might keep each one separate by size, type, length, and thickness. I just have this big gallon pail of them all together.   If I need something, my pail usually has it!
  • Wire Nuts and Plugs - Done any home wiring lately?   I have!   Lumber stores usually make you buy more than you would ever need, right!
  • Wire - Any 14 gauge spare electrical house wiring littering your garage?   Why not put into some good use!
  • 12 Volt Batteries - Have you taken a battery out of a car and don't know what to do with it?
  • 12 Volt socket - For your car enthusiast....Have you ever seen one of these sockets.   Can we say a Cigarette lighter?
  • Old Cooler - Have an old cooler collecting dust and refuse to put in the trash? They make a great battery storage unit!
  • Power inverter - Have you ever used your computer or small house device in the car and plugged it into the cigarette lighter?
  • Power Drill - Yep! This is the handiest tool.   I use it as a screwdriver, drill holes, grind, and sanding.
  • Wire Cutter - Don't have one? Scissors, utility knife and even a steak knife (Don't tell you significant other!).

This is approximately 90% of all the components you need to build a portable solar panel. Most of us garage bums already have these parts collecting dust and/or stumbling over them while finishing the 'honey do list'. All we need is a Guild, Book or Manual to explain how to put all these parts together.
