Home beer and wine making store opens in Southfield.
For a number of years the home brewing market of Southeast Michigan has been served by three full scale homebrew stores. All of these stores are on what is considered the east side of metro Detroit. This left westsiders with the unfortunate choice of a long drive to obtain brewing or wine making supplies, or buying them online. Until now. Residents of the communities of Novi, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Plymouth, Northville, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Hills, Royal Oak and surrounding areas now have the option to shop in their own locality.
Michigan Brewer Pub & Supplies opened its doors Thursday, October 14th. No longer will west side brewers have to travel long distances if they want to visit a brick and mortar store. Michigan Brewer is located conveniently just north of the “mixing bowl” at 12 mile and Northwestern Hwy.
Michigan Brewer Pub & Supplies currently offers a full line of home beer and wine making supplies. Soon, the company will be licensed as a microbrewer and small wine maker. Touting the slogan, “The Home of Taste it Make it” owner Stan Thornbury says, “a lot of little wine shops have opened, offering people the opportunity to taste wine then make it., but no one is doing this with beer.”
Michigan Brewer Pub & Supplies plans on offering a standard line of beer on tap as well as guest taps. “We want to promote the home brewer and the great beer that comes from some of these back yard brewers,” says Thornbury. Home brewers can submit their recipes and samples at the store and, if approved, Michigan Brewer Pub & Supplies will make the beer and serve it at the bar. The home brewer will be highlighted at the bar and on the company’s website. Every beer and wine made and served on premise will have the recipe available for the homebrewer and wine maker,
