The Samsung NX10 is part of the second generation of ‘mirrorless’ interchangeable lens system cameras.  With the success of the Olympus PEN and the Panasonic GF1 we have come to realize that there is a demand for a high quality camera that is smaller than conventional DSLR.  The Samsung NX10 is very similar to other Micro Four Thirds except that it uses the same APS-C sized sensor as many digital SLR systems.  The larger sensor means better high ISO performance but it also means that the zoom will be smaller.

The Samsung NX10 offers the performance and image quality of a DSLR camera and the portability and convenience of a compact point-and-shoot camera.  These type of camera are a new genre of cameras known as Micro Four Thirds cameras.  The key to the Micro Four Thirds cameras and the Samsung NX10 is that it allows slimmer cameras by removing the mirror box and optical viewfinder and replacing them with an all-live view system that uses the sensor itself to display a preview image.  The lens mount to the sensor, or the flange-back, distance is reduced by 40% to 25.5mm.  The lens mount is also shrunk and the end result is the Samsung NX10 with an ALR sensor and interchangeable lenses in a lot smaller package. The Samsung NX10 has many camera modes including automatic, semi-automatic, and fully manual. The Samsung NX10 has a built-in electronic viewfinder that switches on automatically when you lift the camera to your eye. The new Smart Auto mode uses scene detection to optimize settings for every single shot.

“The new Samsung NX10 marks the start of the next generation of cameras,” said Mr. SJ Park, CEO of Samsung Digital Imaging Company. “We know from our detailed research over several years that what consumers want from their cameras is evolving, which we’ve reflected in the development of the Samsung NX10. With specialist equipment open to everyone and no longer restricted solely to the professional, more and more people want to capture something creative and tell a story through their camera – but they also want something compact that they can carry around with them all day. The large sensor and the ultra fast auto focus give consumers the quality they demand as well as the compactness they want in one exceptional package.”

At the time of launch the Samsung NX10 system will comprise of the NX10 body, a 30mm lens, an 18-55mm lens, a 50-200mm lens, BP1210 Lithium-Ion battery pack and charger, AC cable for charger, USB connection cable, Software CD,  strap, Body cap, Eye cup, Hot-Shoe cover, and the manuals.
