Where Does Singing Talent Come From?

The concept of singing talent has always been a hot button issue for me. Not because it is something that I don’t have, but just the way that people use it. It seems like most have a pretty poor view on talent, or at least use it in a very counter intuitive way. Here is the deal, when you someone else is a good singer, you’ll often say that they’re talented because they have these skills. It’s not that they necessarily earned the skills, but they were just born that way. It is true that a lot of people are born with talents, but most talents are built and molded by someone. That is where I think singing talent comes from.

We get a very shallow view of a singer. We see them on stages singing their songs and we get their albums, so we can hear them. But we never really see what they did to achieve their success. What you’re probably not aware of is that singers work day after day on their voice. They’re constantly practicing and molding their talent into a better singing voice. It might be easy to assume that these people are all prodigies, but most of them built their voice.

So where does singing talent come from? It comes from the hard work of a person that wants to be a singer. You have to be willing to invest time and energy into what it takes to sing. All the skills you need can be learned, you just have to sit down and learn them. Some will be easy and some could take years, but all of them can be learned and you can be talented.
