Heat pumps are an energy efficient means which provide heating and cooling solutions. What such a unit actually does is it moves the temperature of a cold space to a warm space with the help of electricity this makes cool area cooler and the warm area warmer. If you want to use the such pumps during a winter season for heating the home,An Insight into the Competent Source Heat Pumps Articles they move the heat energy from the cooler outdoors into the warmer indoor area of the house and if the climate is hot outside the heating unit displace the heat from the home in the warm outdoor making the home cooler. Since they work in moving the heat energy the efficiency of these pumps is up to four times higher than the power they consume.

Geothermal heat pump

The most commonly used heat pumps are of two types one is the geothermal heat pump and the other is the air source heat pump. The former variety is used in achieving a high level of efficiency by transferring the heat energy from the ground or a water source to the home which requires heating. Geothermal pumps have low maintenance costs because of the relatively stable temperature of the ground or water source.

A geothermal system is usually set up beneath the surface preferably buried under a garden or a suitable water source. In order to set up a geothermal pump some key factors must be taken into consideration such as soil condition, climate, landscape and the size of the area. There are four types of ground loop system three of which comes under the closed loop system which horizontal, pond/lake and vertical and the other is the closed loop system.

Air source heat pump

The other type of heating system which is widely used is the air source heat pump. It transfers the heat energy between the home and outside air. When such a unit is correctly installed it can convey around one and a half to three times the heat energy to a home than the electrical force it uses.

These units with high efficiency are also used for dehumidifying which can be better than normal air conditioners, which results in less energy consume and higher cooling during summer months. Normally a heating pump consists of a compressor and two coils usually made of copper and surrounded by aluminum fins which are helpful in transferring the heat energy. These equipments are also available for houses without channels which are referred to as mini split heat pump.

There is a special type of this system which is known as the reverse cycle chiller which is used in the generation of warm and ice water instead of air. It helps the user with a wide variety of heating and cooling systems ranging from radiant floor systems to air systems with many zones. Apart from this it also reduces the electricity bills during winter as it generates hot air through the vents.

By the usage of the source heat pumps one can conserve energy in the form of electricity and also help in emission control.
