Putting Yourself Out There (A Leaders Worse Fear)

Network Marketing is a business not unlike any business. The same basic principles apply whether you are the owner of some traditional business or a home-based business. 

As you build a base of Independent Distributors under you or hire employees then your responsibilities increase; you have more and more people looking to you for answers and help. All of this responsibility can start weighing you down.

With me I want to see people succeed, as I’m sure everyone else wants the same thing. So you put yourself out there! People in your organization come to you for answers and you better have the answers. But in reality even the best of the best Leaders doesn’t always have the answers. Don’t we all make mistakes? Remember, Leaders were followers at one time themselves!

But as Leaders we take even bigger risks – We make ourselves available to teach, train, and motivate! The Leader that is the Greater Leader – Leads by Example! He or she is out there in the trenches leading blazing a trail. Do the people in your organization see you out there doing what you teach them to do? How can you lead if you are behind pushing? No You Have Got To Lead The Charge – Get Out In Front And Go, Go, Go!!

There are those that reach a certain plateau and then they figure I have made it so they drop off the scene. It is time to kick back and enjoy the price of my labors – “Eat, Drink, and be Merry!” This is a big mistake that a lot of Leaders make. You have got to continue being there for your Leaders (people).

The way we have to look at this business is that it is not a retirement plan where we retire in a few years. This Business is our retirement. We are doing what we have always wanted to do – Networking with friends! How can anyone ever retire from doing what they love to do? Who has ever heard of anything so absurd?

Here is a good one for you. Someone wants to know how to handle a presentation or a certain situation. Can you tell them what to do? My friend if you are not actively involved in your business the answer is absolutely not! You have quit doing and so you have lost touch with the reality of this business! As they say practice makes perfect! If you are out of practice you are out of the loop! Stay in shape by staying in practice.

At this point in my career with my Networking Company of choice there are those that look to me for guidance and leadership. This absolutely scares me to death; do you know why? - Because I make a lot of mistakes. I don’t always react the way I should – I stick my foot in my mouth on a regular basis. I may be seen as a Leader but I still have this human problem. But here is a secret formula that will get you through most all those leadership mistakes – Love Your People and Let Them Know It!  After all”love covers a multitude of sins” (mistakes).

The reason that I love Network Marketing so much is because it is about ‘people helping people.’ In what other Industry can you work where you see the “Golden Rule” practiced everyday? You know that is the rule that goes like this, “Treat Other People As You Would Have Other People Treat You!” The Golden Rule!

When I first started in this business many years ago all anyone knew was make a list of 200 people and contact them. Did you know I had trouble coming up with a list of 10 much less 200? Sure I know most of us know more than 200 people but we would like to judge people as to their interest, right? Joe he would not really be interested and Mary when would she find the time? Believe me when I say I am glad we have found a better way to do this business. I like to call it, Marketing At the Speed of Light!

One way I have found to market my business is what many people call mail-order sales. You mail your 2 to 4 page letter to MLM Buyer List. These are people that have requested information on MLM Opportunities. You do not have to talk to friends and family you only talk with people interested in the MLM business. No More Approaching Friends and Family Unless You Want Too!

Of course, once you get a little experience under your belt you will probably feel a lot more confident and will want to share what you do with your friends and family. Most of the time now I do not have to approach them because they are noticing the lifestyle change and they are asking what I am doing and they many times want to get involved. There Is Nothing Finer Than When People Come To You!

There is another way I like doing this business and it is getting easier and easier all the time. It is called Internet Marketing! There are now millions of people that have computers and over 80% of them now have access to the internet. Of course, you do not want to spam people. But there are ways of letting people know you are in business without spamming. People On the Internet Just Like People Through the Snail Mail Are Looking For A Work-From-Home Business Every Day!

Did you know there are companies out there on the Internet selling leads of people looking for an Internet Home Based Business every day? These leads are generated through a medium of advertising on the Internet and people fill out surveys to receive information on an Internet Home Based Business. You Can Order These and Have Them Sent to Your E-mail Address Complete With Their Name, Address, Phone, and E-mail!

We are living in some Great days! You and I do not have to make a list of people we know and go contact them about our great business venture. We can speak with people that are interested in and want what we want. My friends are no longer running away from me in fact they are starting to run to me. They want to know what I am doing. Gone Are the Days of Chasing People Down!

There is one other thing I will mention to you. Learn to write articles and submit them to the article directories. This is a great way to introduce yourself to people and give them a chance to come to you. Make a name for yourself and be honest in your dealings with people. There Are People Out There That Want To Work With You!
