At this stage, your child will begin to construct towers as well as houses alone. All that you need to do is to give some directions as well as creative construction ideas. This will encourage the child to create more complex shapes. You need to think of something new each time in order to keep the baby challenged as well as entertained.

Once the game is over, you must also teach your child how to put the building blocks back in the toy box in order. You must have a box, a basket or any other similar type of container in order to keep all the toys in order.

Some parents are of the opinion that after the age of three, the child will get bored of building blocks. But this depends entirely on the manner in which a child has been stimulated to play. You may challenge your child to a game by distributing the building blocks evenly and constructing something. Next, you may give your child the chance to replicate and create the same shape. Now switch roles and let your child imagine and make some new construction. Now you try to create the same one and let your child too win some times.

Teach your child to build doll houses or a garage out of the building blocks and use it to house other toys. You can also work on patterns with the building blocks. You can teach your child how to create color patterns in the construction of a building.  You may also teach him how to alternate between large and small blocks. This way you both could even construct a pyramid. Make each level of cubes that will be smaller than the ones that were used in the construction of the previous layer.

The building blocks are meant to challenge your child and to test his creativity. It is very important to get involved. You need to stimulate your baby by making the games more complex as your child is gaining skills. Encourage creativity as well as logical thinking in this way.
