Bedroom Features
One of the rooms we all want to feel relaxed in is of course the bedroom. All rooms come in different shapes and sizes with many different features and by making the most of what you have with a few simple tweaks can make all the difference.
The room we all want to feel able to relax in is the bedroom,
but some of us struggle to work with the actual features, such as high ceilings which can make a room seem daunting. Or a north facing bedroom where lack of light can be a problem. The tips supplied will help you make the most out of any bedroom and they can be as simple as introducing a picture rail to creating space with bedroom furniture.
High ceilings can be quite imposing in a bedroom, they can take away the cosy factor from a room. By introducing a picture rail and painting the ceiling down to the picture rail level, this will give the appearance of a lower ceiling and introduces a more relaxed feel. If you can choose warm tones for the walls and use a light shade for the ceiling, it will enhance the room perfectly. Try to avoid white on the ceiling; however a slight off white can achieve the same effect.
If you have a north facing room, achieving the airy light feel can pose problems; the key is in the choice of bedroom furniture and the colour scheme used. Think of using bedroom furniture with a reflective surface, such as high gloss or mirrored, these types of surfaces will aid in reflecting any light into the room, giving it a lighter airier feel. You also need to think about how the colour of the room can give light or take it away.
The colour of a north facing bedroom should be pale, bearing in mind you want an lighter feel to the room. For maximum effect keep the colours to sky blues, light salmon pinks and tusk colours. To give a welcoming feel to the room avoid cool greys, blue or green based versions.
If your bedroom is small, ensure there is a minimal amount of bedroom furniture and choose the colour for you room based on lilacs and greys as this will help you bedroom feel more spacious. These colours give the illusion of drawing away from the eye, this in return makes the room seem larger. Ensure you add a touch of a warm colour as these colours are cool, so a throw on the bed or your curtains in a warmer colour will give warmth to the room.
Making the most of your room will make it a place you want to go to relax in, no matter the size or orientation, there is a colour or bedroom furniture to suit.
