There are so many different tips and tricks to avoiding appliance repair costs.
When you purchase a new home,
appliances are a necessity. If they come with the home, your costs are cut considerably, but what if your previous owners did not maintain their appliances? Whether you purchased new or used appliances, it is important to keep up the maintenance, or you may be in for some costly appliance repair fees. So take care of your fridge, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer. If you have access to the owner’s manuals, take a read through them. You may find some great information that will help you in maintaining a properly working appliance. Many appliance repairs are because a family does not use the machine in its proper manor. Misuse of it can be as simple as how you load a washing machine. The manual sometimes also gives you a run down on how to clean and keep clean your appliance and how often to do so. If they suggest cleaners, use them! Do not veer away from these, as it can cause harm to your appliance that you did not expect. If you can’t find the products they suggest, you can always go with the natural and well known solutions such as lemon juice or white vinegar. Know your solution before you use it though! Keep your stove, oven and other appliances clean by cleaning t hem off with a cloth or sponge after every use. It’s much safer to wait until the appliance has cooled down before doing anything. If you own a flat top stove you can wipe the surface of your burners after every use. You also can do this with a coil top or burner stove, but it can be more of a pain to clean the trays beneath the burners. It is good to clean these out and wash them on a weekly or bi-weekly basis so food does not get caked on them and cause hazards. A good habit to get into is thawing out your cooling devices on a quarterly basis. This way you can remove any build up of ice etc. At the same time, why not vacuum the back coils of your fridge and freezers as these can build up dust and dirt and cause your cooling appliances to run less efficiently. Keep up on inspecting your appliances on a yearly basis so you don’t have to worry about large appliance repair fees. Take a look at your washer, dryer and dishwasher to see if any issues are behind the scenes. Fixing something as small as kinks, leaks or clogs in hoses or filters etc, can prevent a call to the appliance repair technicians. Don’t spend loads of cash on a technician if you can help it. And you can help it in many cases. Keep up maintenance on your appliances.
