In addition to pieces of furniture, curtains, floors and so on, the choice of lamps, chandeliers and other things like that is really very important. It is self-evident that light is essential in every house, but there are various types of lighting systems, and you need to choose the best one, depending also on your needs and on the style of your house. Because, and this is very important to be pointed out, light does not only play a practical role in your house, but also an aesthetic one. A special lamp or an original chandelier is as important as a beautiful carpet or a nice piece of furniture as far as embellishing a room is concerned, and choosing a type of lamp or chandelier instead than another one can really change the style of your house. And if you make a wrong choice, your guests will certainly notice that there is something wrong in your house!

 

So, when you have to decide about lighting in your house, there are two main things that you need to consider: first of all, the intensity of light that you want in a given room; secondly, the style of the room itself. As far as point one is concerned, what you need to think about is the position and direction of the room in comparison to sunlight and the amount of windows; then, the use that you want to make of that room. If the room receives a lot of sunlight during the day, you will not need to equip it with many lamps and chandeliers, and you might also think about a type of lamp that makes it possible for you to regulate the intensity of light according to the hours of the day and to weather. On the contrary, if the room is dark because there are no windows or for other reasons, you’d better consider the possibility to buy more than one lamp. As far as the use of the room is concerned, it is self-evident that if you are going to work or study in that room, for example, you will need a lot of light, and you will also need to put a lamp on your desk to work and study better, while if you use a room only to sleep in it, you might not need to have too much light.

 

The second point that you need to take into consideration when planning the lighting of your house is the style you want to give to each room. Lamps and chandeliers can be considered as real furnishings and ornaments of a room, and as happens with furniture, there are different styles of lamps and chandeliers: essential, elegant, classic, original, sumptuous ... the list might be much longer! Just choose the style that you prefer, keeping in mind that some types of lamps are better for some types of rooms than for other ones. If you have little children, for example, you will not choose a very elegant chandelier or lamp for their room (although you might like this style), but you will choose something more suitable for children, perhaps something colourful or with the shape of animals.

 

In conclusion, when dealing with house lighting you are really spoilt for choice. You only need to think about what is better for you and for your house!
