There are a few different factors in landscape design to consider especially for large areas. These factors are things that the architect should have a grasp of before he or she even starts to make plans.

Whatever plans the architect has for the place, the preferences of the owner will prevail when it comes to implementation. That is to say, if the owner wants a wide open space in a heavily treed area, then the trees might have to go. That is unless they are protected by the government due to environmental issues. Many homeowners might like to keep the natural lay of the land of their house. One reason for sticking to the natural contour of the land is the stability that comes from not disturbing it. Adding filling to treacherous slopes can result to an eventual landslide if the filling is not tamped down carefully and properly. Landscape design can be incorporated in the natural contours of property to preserve its stability and soundness of the earth. Large lawns and yards will also benefit from a naturally occurring grove of trees or a small pond. It is often best to work with what is already there and just enhance it rather than break it down and make everything new.

Naturally Occurring

In choosing the plants and trees that are to be put into the plans, sourcing them locally will benefit the environment immensely. Some environments will be harshly affected if a slew of foreign plants and trees are introduced to it. Landscape design plans are encouraged to use flora that can coexist well with the local environment and does not damage the plant and animal life there. Some government agencies monitor what are introduced to certain areas of the country in order to discourage the spread of undesirable plants, insects and other flora and fauna that may impact the local environment.
