For some home elevators, space of machine room is requires to be taken into consideration. Hydraulic elevator is one of the most common and typical design of home elevator. This hydraulic elevator believed to be most safe, protective and reliable in emergency conditions such as fire and earthquakes. The machine room of this elevator is located in the basement of the home and this elevator has a manual lowering system. The machine room is fixed as a part of the base for the resident. 
Another very famous kind of home elevators is electric elevator. This elevator is also called traction elevator. This home electric elevator works by a counterweight that keeps the cab suspended in the shaft. This home elevator uses no oil and suspensions of this elevator makes user more vulnerable.  If your home is situated in that area which is more prone to earthquakes then this electric home elevator is not a good and right choice for you. These home electric elevators accommodate just one or two persons so that is why it is not suggested for the handicapped and disabled persons. A fourth kind of residential elevator is an overhead winding drum. This design also does not need a machine room and oil. This often use for green home elevators. This residential elevator is commonly installed or fixed into the roof of the home.
