The Mattress Should be Right for You
This article is about choosing a mattress that is suitable for the individual. It explains the bases for the right choices.
A mattress can make or break an individual's sleep. Since sleep is necessary for the well-being and health of a person,
it is important that he gets enough of this. To get enough, the individual needs to be comfortable. The ideal bed may differ according to the needs and preferences of each person.
Structure
Strange as it may seem, the more important part of this bedroom feature is its structure. Mattresses are made up of the frame, the support (springs or coils), the cover and the tops. The frame of a mattress consists of the basic rectangular shape that almost all sprung bed cushions come in. The frame can be made of hard plastic or wood, whichever the manufacturer may use. Some manufacturers even use metal frames for more durability. Lightweight but durable metals are ideal for framing. The support system usually consists of coils or springs that are strategically placed to offer the best support available for the person or persons sleeping on it.
There are several designs for both the springs and the placement that are of great help to sleepers. Older models usually make use of a continuous coil that moves when the person on it moves. This means that the other individual on it is likely to be disturbed when someone moves around or gets on and off the bed. The ones that make use of pocket sprung coils are better than older models and may be one of the more popular forms of designs. Each coil takes on the weight and movement of the person individually. This makes movement better and less intrusive.
This is particularly ideal for sleepers who like to lie on their sides because the contours of the body are fully accommodated. More recent innovations in the sleeping industry include memory foam and latex. Memory foam is great for the joints as they present less stress and conform to the form of the individual. One thing to consider with memory foam is that it is usually firmer during the cold season. Latex is ideal for those who have allergies.
The covering of the mattress is made of a sturdy fabric that is rolled and sewn at the edges and seams in order to make it stronger. Ideally, the top part is made of quilted fabric that may contain natural fibers such as wool. Although they give an impression of being padded, this is not enough padding for many people. This is resolved by adding an additional layer of padding. Some coverings are made of a thin layer of memory foam or goose down.
Other Factors
The measurement of the bed or base should conform to the mattress. If the base is smaller, this may present problems such as sliding off the base or the sleeper rolling off. A wider base is preferable to a smaller one but it is still better to have the same measurement for both. The bed may not need a base a times. Some beds have slats that offer support while others are solid. These have to be considered when out purchasing a bed.
