When removing carpet stains caused from blood, always use cold water. Using hot water will cause the stain is set. If there are still traces of the stain present, use a mild dish detergent mixed with cold water and rub lightly into the remaining stain and then blot as necessary. Once the stain is removed, completely rinse and blot with cold water. Use a shop vac, if available, to remove the excess water. Kool-Aid stains are sometimes very difficult to remove. Kool-Aid stains, Red wine stains and other red stains can be very difficult to remove at times. Start by using a shop vac and removing as much liquid as possible. With Kool-Aid stains use blue Dawn dishwashing detergent and mix with cold water. Dampen a white cloth with this solution and then lay on the stain. Do not rub or press too hard on the stain. Use an iron on the low setting and place it on the cloth for 10 to 15 minutes. The stain will weep into the cloth through this process. Use a clean cloth and repeat this process until the stain is removed. When removing pet urine stains is very important to try and blot the stain with paper towels as soon as possible. Mix a small amount of dishwashing detergent with warm water and apply this solution to the stain. Slowly blot or vacuum the stain to remove the solution. Repeat this process two or three times until you feel comfortable that the stain has been removed.
