Ways to Stay Cool During AC Installation

Staying cool when the weather is steamy can be a difficult task, especially if your air conditioning has not been installed or if it is in need of repair. While you are waiting for AC installation or repair, consider the following ways to beat the heat and stay cool.

First of all, consider ways to stay cool at home. If you have a swimming pool or sprinkler, you might find that the water will help alleviate the stifling heat. Using the pool or sprinkler is especially helpful if the AC installation is not expected to take very long and you can pass the time while keeping cool. Also, if you have a fan or wall air conditioning unit that works, avail yourself to it if possible.

If you do not have a pool or sprinkler and cannot use the fan or window unit, consider heading to a local shopping mall. If you have small children, find one that has an indoor play area to keep them busy while you wait. A shopping mall will have its air conditioning on and you will be able to dodge the sun as well. If there is not a play area, why not take a leisurely stroll while you window shop and then stop at the food court for some ice cream or a cold beverage?

Should visiting the mall not be an option and if you do not have access to a pool, then you might want to consider visiting the home of a friend or staying in a hotel until the AC installation is completed. Extreme heat can be dangerous, so you will have to evaluate the weather and the projected temperatures to see if this is a reasonable solution for you. If you have health conditions that are aggravated by the weather, be proactive in protecting yourself from negative repercussions.

If you are staying home during the process, you might also want to consider the comfort of the AC installation technicians. Obviously you are under no obligation to provide beverages or fans to keep them cool, but the gesture will likely be welcomed. A pitcher of iced tea, water or lemonade is especially refreshing on a hot, dry day. If you have a fan that can be placed where the work is being done, it will also make a big difference to the technicians.
AC installation can take a good deal of time, depending on the size and complexity of the system. It is important to try and remain patient during the process. If you can, keep yourself busy and try not to distract the workers from their task at hand since this will only delay the process even further.
