I'd like to share with you some IT the facts about which you don't know probably.
So the first IT fact is instruction on reading the JPEG format. In 2010 scientists from the PLANETS project placed instructions on reading the JPEG format in a special capsule. It was placed in the special bunker in the Swiss Alps. It was made for saving information of digital formats popular in the beginning XXI century for descendants.
The next fact is search engine "BackRub". In 1996 Larry Page and Sergey Brin called their first search engine "BackRub".In 1997 Larry and his colleagues discussed a lot of new possible names of faster and improved technology search. Shon and Larry were at their office, and tried to think up the good name. Their colleague Sean Anderson offered the word "gugolpleks" and then Larry offered truncated "googol", what means the number in a decimal numeral system represented by unit with 100 zero. Shon executed search on the Internet and saw that the offered name is available to registration and use. But Sean made a typographical error at registration and registered domain as "google.com". Larry liked the name, and he approved it as the google.com trademark.
Do you know that the longest domain name in the world consists of 63 symbols. Authors of this name tried to register in the Guinness Book. But were refused, because "For registration of the domain name it is necessary to make more efforts". The longest domain name of figures belongs to the Japanese website devoted to number of Pi. But presently domain names are appreciated which transfer the name of the company or its services. Like: www.vizualtech.com. It is the name of web development company which leads in Miami, Florida.
The next fact is Doctor David Bradley is one of 12 engineers who have developed IBM PC, offered to use a combination of the Ctrl+Alt+Esc keys for fast reset of the computer. But such combination could be pressed incidentally by one hand, it was changed to Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Do you know that apportion of QWERTY keyboard was projected as the most inconvenient of the possible. Its age is 130 years. The matter is that typewriters break quickly if the typist printed too quickly, and founders tried to develop an apportion for one hand typing. Used before DVORAK is more effectively than QWERTY for 70%.
And the last fact is about first mail. The first electronic letter was sent in 1971 by Ray Tomlinson. He is the author of the program for an exchange of messages between computers. He suggested to use a badge @ for user name and computer separation.
