Many baby boomers and some of the elderly are not digitally savvy and don't feel the need to get Internet access because they don't think it is that important to their lives. Some of these individuals assume that the net is a bad thing and that kids should not have access to it because of its potential dangers. Most people who fall into this category fail to recognize the necessity of the Internet because they don't the knowledge or experience of using it.

There are also people out there who want to have Internet access but feel like it is not available for some reason. Although some of these people don't even have a PC in their homes, others do but just aren't informed enough to get it connected to the net. Pricing can be an issue as well. Those who don't have a computer or web-ready gadget consider the price of getting one to be too expensive in some cases. This usually applies to people who don't make a lot of money or are unable to work. However, free access is available at the certain public libraries and in other areas.

A small portion of people that have not jumped online at home yet are those that want to do so but find it too costly. These are the type of person that probably has a computer at home but does not really know how to use it to surf the net. These are also those people that although they might like getting online they still don't think that it has much to offer them. The inability or fear of not understanding how to surf the web is one that will quickly disappear over a short period of use.

Some of the most common problems with getting new users online are pretty basic. There is of course the lack of skills. There is the issue of cost, which when you can't justify a reason to use the net then it is hard to justify adding another household monthly bill, to pay for it. Some people have the idea that there is not available service where they live. In spots where broadband is not available there are quite often satellite internet choices that are also offered with the bonus of government assistance for the set-up.
