Many baby boomers and some of the elderly are not digitally savvy and don't feel the need to get Internet access because they don't think it is that important to their lives. Some of these individuals assume that the net is a bad thing and that kids should not have access to it because of its potential dangers. Most people who fall into this category fail to recognize the necessity of the Internet because they don't the knowledge or experience of using it.

There are also people out there who want to have Internet access but feel like it is not available for some reason. Some of the most common problems with getting new users online are pretty basic. There is of course the lack of skills. There is the issue of cost, which when you can't justify a reason to use the net then it is hard to justify adding another household monthly bill, to pay for it. Some people have the idea that there is not available service where they live. In spots where broadband is not available there are quite often satellite internet choices that are also offered with the bonus of government assistance for the set-up.
