Top Cyrillic Fonts

Cyrillic fonts are usually referred to Russian or Ukrainian texts, the most distributed Cyrillic style of writing in the world. They are also a point of download popularity among Internet users eager to perform Cyrillic-based inscriptions. In this context, it is possible to make a list of the most popular Russian fonts. Most of them belong to Garamond font family.
Garamond Italic is one of the most downloaded. As any other Garamond font, it is pretty good typeface, which should be in the collection of every self-respecting web designer. It functions perfectly in such graphic design programs as Adobe Photoshop CS and Corel. In addition, it is introduced in TrueType format and is possible in English language (Latin characters). It dates back to the 16th century and was improved in 1989. Therefore, among its authors it is better to underline two typographers - Claude Garamond and Robert Slimbach.
Garamond Bold cannot be characterized as specific font, unless not to take into account splendid serifs. The very advantage of this font is that it has support of Cyrillic and it undoubtedly will be useful to Russian-speaking webmasters.
Garamond typeface is natural leader in the font family, which can be marked with beautiful serifs as well. Cyrillic version of Garamond is performed in classic manner. Garamond has experienced many transformations and improvements in last decades of the 20th century. In particular, in 1984 it was created for Apple, as the company was promoting Macintosh software. Now it is known as Apple Garamond. Besides, the font is widely distributed in publishing business.
Franklin Gothic Demi and Franklin Gothic Demi Cond are made in classic style as well.  They date back to 1902, when Morris Fuller Benton has created these sans serif typefaces. It is much used in American press and mass media (Latin letters, of course). 
Fang Song might be characterizes, firstly, by support of Cyrillic (Russian text). Its main disadvantages is a large size of the archive with the font. Fang Song is very beautiful, being executed in the classical style. There are no special unique qualities. Besides, this font is very popular among Chinese graphic designers.
