Don’t Do This Or You’ll Need A Criminal Attorney
You don’t want to find yourself needing a criminal attorney. Do not do the following things.
You don’t want to find yourself requiring the services of a criminal attorney,
do you? No one ever plans to commit crimes and then get arrested for it. There’s probably not a person on earth who wants to spend years behind bars. Sometimes mistakes are made that alter the course of a person’s life. Perhaps they acted out of rage or jealousy. Perhaps they were under the influence of drugs, alcohol or a crummy diet. Perhaps they didn’t really think it was a “crime” and got caught up in a downward spiral of mistakes or succumbed to peer pressure. If you want to live a life of freedom, be sure not to do the following things:
- Drink and drive: You may think this is no big deal but driving under the influence of multiple cocktails can land you in jail. Not only that, you could wreck your car, lose your driving privileges and become uninsurable.
- Sell illegal drugs: You need money and think that selling a bit of cocaine or heroin could be just the ticket for gathering up some cash. Don’t do it! Not only can this get you arrested and thrown into the slammer, it can get you hurt by hanging around the wrong crowd.
- Decide to skip paying taxes: Those IRS forms are such a pain to fill out, right? If you decide to say “No!” to filling out your tax forms for the internal revenue service and skip paying your fair share, you will be sorry. You may think that they’ll never notice one lone non-taxpaying citizen, but you’d be wrong.
- Lie about your finances in bankruptcy court: Did you inherit a large sum of money from Aunt Hilda two weeks before your bankruptcy is final? Did you decide to hide the money in a bank account under an anonymous pseudonym till your debts are wiped away? Bad move. You are going to require a criminal lawyer to get yourself out of that jam.
- Drive a trunk full of marijuana across country for your rock star boyfriend: Your hunky boyfriend asked you to do one small favor for him. Drive your car with a load of pot to the dealer on the opposite coast. Oh, what could possibly happen if you just help the poor guy out? You could find yourself in deep trouble and end up talking to your attorney from a jail cell. Your cute boyfriend? Oh, he’s already got another groupie girlfriend working for him.
- Run out the door of a convenience store with unpaid for suitcases of beer in each hand: Your friends double-dog-dared you to do it. It would be a lark and no one would get hurt. Right? Wrong. This is theft and you’re going to be nabbed after being identified in the security camera.
No one wants to get arrested and thrown into jail. What you may think is a tiny ethical gray area or a mischievous prank could wind you in big trouble and capsize your life. Make good decisions and save yourself lots of grief. If you do make any of these errors in judgment, finding a savvy criminal attorney to represent you will be your best bet.
