K1 Non-immigrant US visa in Thailand is applied by a Thai fiancée of a US citizen. This visa is required in order for the US citizen petitioner to bring his Thai fiancée to the United States and get married.
One of the requirements on applying for US K1 fiancée visa in Thailand is to have a medical certificate. There are designated physicians authorized by the US Embassy or Consulate to conduct medical examination for the US visa applicants. Medical reports are valid for a period of 1 year from the date the medical examination was taken. Any major illness, physical or mental disease should be disclosed; any attempt to withhold this information is discouraged.
Requirements for the medical examination includes passport, appointment letter to the doctor, 3 recent photos, all medical records of vaccinations, prior illnesses/treatments, prior chest x-rays.
Process of the medical examination:
1. Medical history review
2. Physical examination
3. Chest X-ray
4. Blood tests for syphilis
When theThai fiancée K1 visa applicant failed to pass the medical examination due to current medical condition, this may lead to his/her visa be denied. HIV/AIDS positive, active tuberculosis, leprosy, and syphilis positive are among those on the medical conditions list.
Conditions that require constant medical care and pharmaceutical case are also taken into account by the US immigration. Disease or disorder which could lead to debilitation and inability to work is also given consideration because of the health care insurance issues. Foreign citizen should not have the predisposition to use US public funds. This is also true with applicants who have mental disorder and pose a threat to danger himself (with psychosis). Applicants with substance abuse problem such as drug abusers and drug addicts may also contribute to US K1 visa application in Thailand denied. Applicants with substance abuse problems have higher rate on getting their visa denied.
While being positive to chronic medical problem may prove unfavorable to approval of your visa application, bring copies of your medical records to show that you are being treated and that your condition is controlled. Once medical examination is done, the physician will give you documentation or certification.
