First of all, please do not tell me you are just promoting a generic affiliate page or company website.  That is THE WORST way to market a business online.  You cant really expect to have more than modest results marketing your business this way.

This will only work if you send millions of visitors to your site.  That could take years and cost you thousands of dollars.

First of all, when you just market the company website, you are competing with every other person in your business.  And the fact is if you are using free advertising, many people have probably already seen your business and made a judgment about it.

Chances are, all the EASY sales were snatched up a long time ago, right after your  product or company originally launched.

You need to create curiosity and a desire for this person to seek out the information you have.

You can also offer freebies like advertising or downloads or hold little contests and raffles to gain peoples interest.

This works well because people who are trying to build a business want something that will help them build their business, so try and give them that.  If they naturally feel like they are getting something out of the the exchange, so they are more willing to give their information and see what you have to offer.

Just think about it.  If you are promoting yourself and offering a solution to other people's problems, then how many people could you possibly be competing with?  The answer is very few.
