It's nice to see businesses using memes as a way to market themselves.
You know what I find crazy?
This has to do with the startup skincare company I consulted for.
My colleague found out from his girlfriend, who apparently works with the company, that they pay people around $1,000 to brainstorm memes for their social media channels.
At first, when I heard that, I thought that was one ridiculous way to spend $1,000. But now that I think about it, it’s not so different from writers getting paid to write jokes for a TV show.
It takes a lot of creativity to think of new jokes, you know?
And looking at their Instagram page, their memes aren’t half bad.
Now that I think about it, from my observation, memes are being used a lot more frequently by online businesses.
I mainly see them used as social media content and ad images.
It feels good to see memes being appreciated by people other than the Reddit dwellers. But while that is a great thing to see, being the biased email copywriter that I am, I think they should use some of their jokes in their emails too.
Although business is a serious thing, and depending on a couple of other different factors, it doesn’t hurt to write light-hearted emails once in a while.
In fact, it might even help increase your engagement. And like I mentioned plenty of times before, more engagement means more sales.
