Marketing has been described as storytelling. You are creating a story about your business.
Some marketing stories are masterfully crafted. But they don't necessarily tell the authentic truth about the brand, about what that company can truly deliver.
I know, because you're reading this, that you're committed to telling the Truth, with a capital T. The big T Truth is all about authenticity.
What can you truly deliver to your clients, when you are being your best Self? What can your company deliver, when it's in its highest incarnation?
The work then becomes staying within that incarnation. Doing whatever you can to make sure it's the best you can deliver, that you treat clients and customers with the qualities you've defined as the best You, individually and as expressed in your business.
The same is true for you in your business. Telling your own True story helps define you as that higher Self. Once you know that Self, you can carry it within you, no matter what happens during the day.
You may not be in it in every moment, but you know it's there. You can take that knowing and change your experience.
You've got a problem that doesn't seem to have a solution? Step back, breathe, connect with your own big-ness. Out of that Self, you will see another way. It may take some time, but opening to your own big Self inside always opens doors in the outer world too.
That, my sweet friends, is transformative. That is alchemy.
Rather than the prosaic litany of events that have happened to you, and even what you see happening in future, tell the bigger story. Tell the story of your epic journey, the (s)hero's journey of callings and trials and transformation and new beginnings.
Just because this story is big and has mythic qualities, doesn't mean it's not true. You are merely capturing the essence, the heart of the tale.
Your authenticity shines through your big story, better than any small story ever could.
Make the story about the best that you can accomplish, the heart of who you are. Make the story True, in the deepest sense.
We all have trials. We all struggle at times with the challenges of everyday life and business. That doesn't cancel out this true essence of you.
When you return to that true Self, the authentic big-ness that you are, you keep affirming your highest calling, your best Self. Through that ongoing affirmation, you draw your big-ness out from within you. And you inspire others to their own big-ness.
What story are you telling about your business?
Shift your marketing to tell the bigger story. You'll not only be drawn to fulfill that higher purpose yourself, you'll draw people who want to do the same in themselves.
What an amazing community of clients and team and prospects you'll have then!
You get to choose what story you're telling about your business. Make it a good one, one that is worthy of you and your business.

Life will always get in the way, if you allow it. We can put ourselves in a holding pattern too. For a long time, I put off starting a podcast. I’m not ready, I said. I don’t know how to do it, I said. I’m scared to do it, I said. I’ve got too much going on, I said.
