Most consumers who purchase portable computing devices want to browse the internet,
connect community websites and share multimedia at any time. This uninterrupted connecting becomes indispensable in today’s digital life. Therefor market research firm In-Stat predicted that this trend means that the mobile communications industry will be achieved in a mature mobile phone market for further business opportunities, but also for connectivity of emerging wireless products such as e-book reader, Ipad, and so on.
In-Stat predicts that in 2015, flat devices will have the highest rate of 3G/4G network connection products in all portable cellular communication and computing devices; then the market will have 78% flat devices with 3G/4G modem. “Emerging flat devices market is most likely an application area of embedded type 3G/4G technology. ” Senior analyst Stephanie Ethier of In-Stat said: "Cellular will continue to link technology applications in the e-book reader and find a way, estimated that by 2015, 65% of global e-book reader will be equipped with embedded 3G/4G modems. "
The latest In-Stat research report, covering non-traditional cellular connection equipment forecasts; addition to flat panel devices, e-book readers, it also includes portable navigation devices (PND) and digital photo frame. The report noted that in 2010, about 1,600 million units of portable computing devices equipped with 3G/4G connectivity; and over half of the tablet device will support LTE connectivity in 2015.
Terms of regional market, In-State estimates 52% of the Asian market to support a portable cellular communication technology computing devices, it would be the GSM equipment; the Asia Pacific region is a region with most stable shipping growth rates of 3G/4G portable computing devices.
