The Government Insists On the Electronic toll! Mandatory FasTags as of December 1

In a statement,Mandatory FasTags from 1 December 2019 Articles the Ministry of Road and Highway Transportation said that this lane will also become a FASTag lane as a function of time.

To ensure continued traffic and avoid congestion in toll booths, the government said Friday that it had decided as of December 1 to declare all lanes in the toll plaza on national roads as "FASTag lanes."

However, in all lanes, a 'hybrid lane' is allowed in each toll booth to facilitate and control oversized or oversized vehicles, where FASTag and other payment methods are accepted.

In a statement, the Ministry of Road and Highway Transportation said that this lane will also become a FASTag lane as a function of time.

After December 1, non-FASTag users will be charged double the cost if they drive only on FASTag lanes.

FASTag is a prepaid label that allows automatic deduction of toll costs and allows the vehicle to pass through the toll booth without stopping for the cash transaction.

"The Ministry of Road and Highway Transportation decided to declare all lanes in all toll booths on national roads across the country as special" FASTag lanes "since December 1 of this year," the ministry said.

According to the National Highways Fee (2008), a FASTag lane in a toll booth is reserved exclusively for FASTag user traffic.

In a letter to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Friday, the ministry asked the authority to ensure strict implementation of the new tariff rules at each toll plaza on national roads.

The decision was made to promote the faster payment of rates through digital model so that vehicles can drive smoothly and traffic jams can be avoided in toll booths.

Radiofrequency identification (RFID) based on FAFag is mounted on the windshield of the vehicle. This allows costs to be paid directly from the prepaid or associated savings account and vehicles can continue driving without stopping to make transactions.

However, it has been discovered that even non-FASTag users currently pass FASTag lanes and make cash payments. This leads to the displacement of such lanes and the general traffic congestion in the square, which cancels the purpose of the FAST labels. As a result, the electronic toll through FASTags has not grown as strong as desired.

To ensure the smooth implementation of this decision, the Ministry requested the NHAI to evaluate the general requirements of the FASTags throughout the country and make them available in the required numbers.

The civil and electronic infrastructure required in all toll bays must also be provided before the implementation date of December 1.

The NHAI has also been asked to identify and solve logistical and other problems that may lead to a public order problem in this company.
