Choosing An AdSense Alternative

If you are here because you urgently need to find an alternative to AdSense then I assume that your account has been deactivated and Google has not given you the chance to appeal. If you are like one of the tens of thousands of other past AdSense publishers you likely have no clue why your account was suddenly blocked but the recommendation from others is don't beg and plead as it makes no difference, just move on to another platform. 

Believe it or not, having your AdSense account blocked could be the best thing that ever happened to you, just like what happened with Jeff Johnson back in 2004. Jeff was managing his brothers account which Google deemed to be against their TOS so they shut both the accounts down.Remarkably, the money Jeff earned went up because he was no longer being lazy and just relying on AdSense for his income!

Adrite

AdBrite are one of the oldest independent ad networks and have been online for over 8 years. It doesn't have the contextual technology that Google has but you can choose the category you want to target and it will serve up ads based on that category. You should be careful about picking the right category because even though a financial category might pay better it's not going to get many clicks if your site is about dog training! Unfortunately getting paid by AdBrite is a bit of a pain if you are outside the US as they issue all their cheques in USD so you need to make sure you can cash it at your bank before you sign up.

LinkWorth

If you have a site with good traffic and Google PageRank then you have the option of earning some good money with LinkWorth who specialize in link based advertising. The concept is fairly simple, the more links you have the higher your search engines and this is what the advertisers on LinkWorth are paying for. Unlike traditional AdSense alternatives, LinkWorth have a large number of SEO agencies buying links so it's strongly recommended.

Amazon Associates

One option that seems to be overlooked by many people is the Amazon Associate program which can actually be a bigger money spinner than AdSense on certain types of websites. Although Amazon only pays commission on products people have bought the great thing about Amazon is that people buy all kinds of products from it. So you might have a site about healthy dog food and link to some highly relevant dog food products on Amazon (another great thing about Amazon is the almost unlimited range of products they sell), this will make you a few dollars if you make a sale but often people end up buying books, DVD's, computer games and all kinds of other things.

Amazon also have an option called Omakase which works a little bit like AdSense but it tries to automatically put relevant products infront of your customers based on the context of the page. It's a little bit hit and miss at the moment though.

There are plenty of other alternatives like Bidvertiser and Kontera, but in our experience they don't have enough advertisers to replace the income you might have been making on AdSense.
