Bathroom Mirror - Reflection of Serenity
In your home, more of your time is spent in front of this reflector. Shouldn't its style be a reflection of you?
If you’re like most of us with human characteristics you most likely spend a great deal of time in front of the bathroom mirror. We spend hours looking at ourselves,
primping our faces, styling our hair and making certain we are ready to start our day. With all this time we spend in this setting, I think it would be appropriate to take a good deal of time choosing just the right mirror. One that will suit you and the room it’s in. For centuries the bathroom mirror was considered more for function then as a decorating piece. Typically every house has one, but what makes it unique to you is the style. The bathroom mirror has become the perfect compliment and an inspiration for its beauty. One of its most important functions is to reflect light both natural and artificial. It adds a depth to a room making it look larger then it is. It helps to enhance your bathroom with warmth and inviting features. They are available in all shapes such as round, oval, rectangular, square and with or without a frame. You can create a traditional, modern or Victorian style design just by the mirror you purchase. A traditional style looks best with a framed mirror where as a contemporary or modern look should be unframed, circular or beveled. Have you ever wondered why you look better in some mirrors then others? This is all do to the lighting around or above the mirror. In order for it to be a pleasant experience the mirror must be properly lighted. Mirror lights can be perfect for a small room but for a larger area an extra ceiling fixture is needed and essential for general lighting purposes. Make certain that your mirror reflects an object back that is pleasing to your eye such as a picture or floral arrangement. There is not a written law on the size of the mirror but it does look best if it is not larger then the width of the vanity. There are an abundance of choices in the market place. You can purchase mirrors with medicine cabinets that will help with extra storage. There are also wall mounted mirrors, make up mirrors, vanity and wall hanging. If you are blessed with a large space you can install a wall hanging mirror with an adjustable arm. This should be placed directly across from the mirror above the sink. You will love it and never have to wonder again what your hair looks like in the back! Also available are wall mirrors with magnifiers. With this your friends will think you had a make up artist at your home.A popular new trend is to hang a sconce directly on the mirror. This is an easy way to double the light in your room. Another trick is to hang different mirror styles over matching his and hers vanities. With the vast varieties you will be able to find one that fits your budget.. One word of advice, be careful how you choose to hang the mirror. If you get too creative and try to hang one on an angle the cost will double due to installation. You should always clean your mirror with a soft dirt free cloth and warm water. If you decide to use a spray cleaner just spray it on the cloth never directly on the glass surface. If you do this incorrectly the moisture could make the backing come off. To accompany your mirror you can also purchase heaters. So when you are ready to shave, or put your make-up on or do your hair the mirror is ready too. This device will keep the mirror from steaming up. To make this a truly unique piece, try to dress it up. You can buy a stencil or frosting kit and see what magic you can create. In my very first apartment I had a beveled flawed bathroom mirror. I went to a thrift store and purchased a frame. I came home and painted it to match my vanity, I can’t begin to tell you how many compliments I received. I hope this information has inspired you to set your creativity free and find the serenity that you deserve.Barbara Tobiasz resides in the Chicago area and studied at the Art Institute.
