Saving electricity should be a priority of pretty much everyone. Not only does it allow you to enjoy low-priced power bills but it can also help save the environment due to reduced carbon footprint. Unfortunately, it's a fact that people all over the world just use increased amounts of energy. However, it's not yet too late to address these concerns. When it comes to saving electricity, why not start by educating our young ones about its importance? Here are some ways that can help save electricity at educational institutions.

• You can start by establishing a sort of energy-saving club wherein students can join. Now, the tricky part comes from recruiting interested members. By itself, the subject of power conservation is not that interesting for students, especially the young ones. To address this, you must create a lighthearted, fun-filled environment instead of a dead serious one.

• Write tips on how one can get the cheapest electricity and have posted at your school's official publication. Better yet, you can have a regular column on the school's paper wherein energy-related subjects will be discussed.
• The awareness should not only be extended to the students but to the parents as well. During PTA or school board meetings, you can hold a presentation about energy-saving and its importance. This can also help ensure that energy-saving practices are also performed at home.
• Conduct an "energy audit" at your school. This will help you determine which part of the school needs to be optimized for electrical conservation. You might also come across some faulty light fixtures, inefficient appliances, and loose wirings which can further your cause when subjected to repairs.
