As compare to the working of other heaters, in infrared heaters sometimes quartz tube is coated by the gold which helps to direct the infrared radiations on the substance which is to be heated and this is achieved by the principle of reflection of infrared rays. Other metals can be used instead of the gold but as compare to the IR reflectivity and oxidation resistance, gold is most efficient and has near about 95% IR reflectivity.There are various types of infrared heaters and each is different from the other because of the difference in the wave length. Short infrared wavelength heats up the filament more quickly and consumes less time to heat up the room.
