TW Steel is a Dutch watchmaker. The company was formed in 2005 by a father and son team, Jordy and Ton Cobelens in Holland and TW Steeel means ‘The Watch in Steel’. This father son team has a history in watches and this began in 1980 when Ton became a Raymond Weil & Maurice la Croix distributor for the Benelux region. It is also at this point that Ton started to design private label watches for airlines like KLM and Martinair. Following this Ton then went on to start a promotions and advertising company and this company created campaigns for Swatch group in Benelux. Ton then sold the company to focus on designing and marketing a small Swiss made watch which was popular in Holland and Europe. IN 2005 TW Steel was born and Ton’s son Jordy was made CEO.
TW Steel has a number of celebrity ambassadors including, Kelly Rowland and David Coulthard. Each ambassador has their very own TW Steel timepiece that has been created in their honour. TW Steel watches’ ambassadors are as big and as bold as the brand. TW Steel watches are also the ‘Official Timing Partner’ to the Lotus F1 team in Formula 1. The TW Steel branding features very prominently on the Lotus F1 team cars, and is also on the driver’s overalls, team uniforms and the garage displays.
