And you can bet that if they are linking to other sites, those other sites are also linking back to them.

After you have checked out the sites that were in the top spots, go back to your site and compare. How does it stack up? Does your URL relate to the keyword or is it just a reflection of your brand? If not, then you might want to purchase a domain that does. Set it up to re-direct to your site. Check through your content. Does it follow any of the search engine marketing tricks that your competitors are using? If not, you have some work to do! The good news is, soon everyone else will see how nice your site looks too!
