Going fishing without a fish finder can be a long day and might not catch anything. Using a sonar fish finder will scan the depth of the water and locate the fish and direct you where to go. Sometimes you will catch two or three fish but with a fish finder the number will be a lot higher.

Fish finders are a great way to locate fish and the key to a great day. Going out fishing for the day can be a lot of fun.you are out with your friends talking and enjoying the day but no one is catching anything. you cruise around looking for another spot and think that if you had a fish finder there would not be a problem.

Chances are you have been on a party boat at one time and they are using a Furuno fish finder. The boat stops and everyone casts their line. Within a half hour the fish are being reeled in and everyone is excited and at the end of the day there is fish for everybody to take home. Now on your boat the only problem is you are fishing without a fish finder and you can spend a lot of time looking for fish.

I have been out numerous times over the years and did not catch anything. We would cruise around the lake in a small outboard boat or in the bay on a fifty five footer and look for other people fishing. We set up and dropped our lines and there is two or three fish caught but really not worth the whole day.

We looked into buying one and checked out the Hummingbird fish finders to see what they do and how it is done. There are four basic components which are the transmitter, receiver, transducer and display. An electrical impulse is initiated from the transmitter and converted to a sound wave into the water by the transducer. The sound wave strikes an object such as a fish or the floor of the body of water and it is bounced off the object toward the boat. The echo strikes the transducer which converts it into an electrical signal then processed and sent to the display and that is where the fish are.

Just remember when you are out fishing you can spend a lot of time searching for a good spot. Once you find that spot luck could be on your side but most likely the fish are not there. Fish finders will scan the water depth using sonar to locate and put you on the fish.
