With her second round victory from yesterday at the US Open over Michaella Krajicek, Serena Williams managed to make it to the third round of the tournament, and now she is not just playing for herself, but also for her sister, as Venus had to retire from the competition due to an illness known as Sjorgren’s Syndrome, “I know she’s a fighter and she’s really strong. I think she’s really happy now that she knows what it is after all this time” she said. Serena missed the Open last year because of 2 foot surgeries and a blood clot in her lung, but now she looks quite strong and is ready for her third-round match, which will be against Victoria Azarenka from Belarus.

Zambrano suspended, might retire after current season
In despite of a current record of 9-7 this season, the bad behavior and recent poor performances from Carlos Zambrano got the player away from action with the Cubs, a team that signed him on a $91.5 million contract for 5 seasons, and that was not satisfied with the overall work from Zambrano, who is currently suspended for 30 days and is not likely to see action after the suspension is over. The player cleaned his locker on Thursday, and it mentioned that he is currently considering retirement as a strong option.

Usain Bolt wins 200m semi-final at Daegu

The Koreans are showing me a lot of love.” Bolt said after his outstanding victory, which also granted him the ticket for the final race which will be taken place on Saturday.

Investors make bid to buy the Dodgers
After ending negotiations with hedge-fund manager David Einhorn, the Dodgers now have an even better offer that can save the team, which filed for bankruptcy back in June, as William Burke, the founder for the Los Angeles Marathon, is heading a group of investors whom are backed with capital coming from Chinese state-owned investment institutions. This group is offering Frank McCourt $1.2 billion dollars for his MLB franchise, though McCourt agrees, he will have to wait for approval from the bankruptcy court and the league.
