One thing that you will find while you are shopping around for a satellite TV service provider is that they not only have a wide assortment of satellite TV programming packages for you to select from,A Close Examination of Hughes Satellite Systems and Receivers from DirecTV Articles but they also all have different satellite TV systems and components for you as well.

All of the leading satellite TV service providers are going to give you a free satellite TV system when you sign on to an extended programming agreement, so it is in your best interest that you chose the best system and receiver when you agree to the terms of your agreement.

You must bear in mind that once you take possession of your new satellite system and its receiver that it is yours to own, just the same as if you have purchased it and so if it begins to malfunction, as home electronics equipment often does then it is entirely your responsibility to have it repaired or replaced. Of course your extended programming agreement still has to be abided by, so while you are sitting stuck with a broken satellite TV system the payments on your programming agreement have to be made, regardless if you are able to watch the programming on your TV  or not.

DirecTV only stocks Hughes name brand satellite TV systems and components and it costs them more to do this, because a simple rule of thumb is that you really do get what you pay for in home electronics components. The Hughes name carries with it a long standing reputation in quality and durability that stretches back for years and this is why DirecTV charges a fee for their Hughes high definition receivers while virtually every programming service provider hands them out for free.

They don’t charge the full cost of their Hughes high definition receivers, but they do charge a nominal fee to help offset the higher cost of the higher quality unit. Satellite TV receivers are filled with features and functions and this particularly holds true for high definition DVR receivers and the more features and functions that are in them the more things that can malfunction or break down, so if you are interested in owning a receiver that has a lot of functions then you would be well advised to go with a better brand such as Hughes.

DirecTV stocks several models of Hughes receiver for you to select from, starting with their Hughes Director receiver which comes with their base level programming package. Just up from the Director is the Hughes Executive model of receiver and it has the option of standard DVR or DVR Powered by TiVo, which allows you to do your own instant slow motion replays. The Hughes Executive also comes loaded with virtually every function that you can get in a satellite receiver.

For their high definition receivers you have you choice of two separate models of Hughes receivers. One is a basic no frills model just like their Director and the other is just like their Executive with the same options available in it. Remember that satellite TV is here to stay and that you would be better served by getting a system that you can count on for years to come and not something that is going to give you problems further down the line.
