The HTC Evo 3D is the new flagship smartphone from the increasingly popular manufacturer. With a spec list which includes a 3D touchscreen and camera, fast internet browsing, dual core processor and the latest Android OS, it certainly look set to be a popular device.
Samsung has also recently released its new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S2. Already proving popular, it is the follow up from the wildly successful Samsung Galaxy S. The spec list, as you can imagine, has been greatly improved though. It offers many of the same features as the HTC Evo 3D, but lack the 3D technology.
In this article I will compare some of the key features of these two handsets, so you can decide which best suits your needs when choosing your next smartphone.
HTC Evo 3D
As mentioned, one of the main aspects of this phone is its 3D technology. With a screen that displays the user interface, as well as photos and videos in 3D, it offers a whole new dimension to smartphone use. Aside from the 3D technology, it also offers everything you would expect from a flagship smartphone. Super fast internet browsing courtesy of both HSDPA and Wi-Fi keeps you connected, whilst the latest version of Android (2.3, aka Gingerbread) comes with access to the Android Market, where users can browse thousands of apps for download straight to the phone. Internal storage on the HTC Evo 3D is 1GB as standard, although there is a micro SD slot which can accommodate a card of up to 32 GB, meaning users can store thousands of multimedia files, documents and applications on the device. As you can see, the HCT Evo 3D is as functional as any other smartphone out there, but with the added bonus of 3D technology, its success looks assured.
Samsung Galaxy S2
The original Samsung Galaxy S was a phenomenally successful handset for the manufacturer. With the introduction of the Samsung Galaxy S2, the winning formula of the original has been enhanced with numerous performance enhancements. A 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and HSDPA download speeds of up to 21 Mbps (fastest on any smartphone), it really is something of a powerhouse in the smartphone arena. What it may lack in the 3D credentials of the HTC handset, it more than makes up for in other areas. For example, the aforementioned web browsing speeds are better than the Evo 3D, and although it may not boast 3D capabilities, it has an 8 megapixel camera compared to the 5 megapixel offering on the Evo 3D.
Choosing between these two handsets is likely to come largely down to personal preference. If you are interested in the 3D side of things then it goes without saying that the HTC Evo 3D will be the better choice. If you want a more powerful handset which excels at any task you throw at it then I would recommend the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Having said that, both are superb handsets, and if you pick either one, you surely won’t be disappointed, especially with the great deals available, many of which include the handset for free.
