The HTC Wildfire S builds upon the winning formula of the HTC Wildfire. This was a very popular handset thanks to its innovative features such as HTC Sense,An Overview Of The Android Powered HTC Wildfire S Articles but was surprisingly inexpensive. The HTC Wildfire S sees a number of performance enhancements over the original model. In this article I will take a look at some of the key features of the handset.

Operating System & User Interface

One of the main draws, and indeed upgrades over its predecessor is the version of the Android operating system which is used. The original utilised version 2.1, but the HTC Wildfire S has version 2.3 (Gingerbread), the latest version installed. This also comes with HTC Sense, the manufacturer’s custom UI developed especially for Android. HTC Sense is renowned as one of the most innovative user interfaces available for a smartphone. Hundreds of useful features are included, all aimed at making every day use that little bit more convenient. For example, you can silence the phone simply by turning it over, which is handy for situations such as meetings, and means you can avoid hanging up on whoever is calling, which could appear rude. Additionally, thanks to a built in proximity sensor, the phone will ring louder if it is in your handbag or pocket. Features like this set HTC handsets apart from the competition, and could go a long way to explaining the increasing market share that HTC is enjoying. Another bonus of the Android OS is the Android Market. Like Apple’s famous AppStore, users can browse apps which can be downloaded directly to the phone, therefore offering seemingly endless options.

Digital Camera

The HTC Wildfire S comes equipped with a 5 megapixel digital camera which has a whole host of image enhancing features included. For example, there is autofocus as well as an LED flash for overcoming poor lighting conditions. Additionally the camera can shoot VGA video footage at a rate of 24 fps. The camera on the HTC Wildfire S may not be the most advanced, but it certainly produces pleasing results and is ideal for those who simply like to take spontaneous snapshots.

There are many similarities between the HTC Wildfire S and the original Wildfire. It is just as compact and slimline, and it has the same impressive built quality and tactile finish. If you are looking for a versatile all rounder which does not sacrifice performance, the HTC Wildfire S is a great choice.
