In this article I will focus on the HTC Sense user interface. This is provided in version 3.0 on the HTC Sensation. It is one of the most functional and innovative Android interfaces. HTC has an ethos surrounding the user experience of its smartphones; to carry out functions with the least possible steps. And this is evident from the features of the HTC Sense 3.0 UI.

So what makes it such an innovative interface?

There are numerous features which all combine to make the user experience that little bit more convenient,An Overview Of The Useful HTC Sense 3.0 UI On The Impressive HTC Sensation Articles but I will focus on a couple of the main ones in this article.

Places

The HTC Places application is an integral part of the Sense UI. This offers a number of great location based services. For starters there is the maps feature. This stores an entire map on the phone which automatically updates behind the scenes. Therefore, when you need to use the map you do not have to wait for it to load or buffer as the map is stored on the phone and does not require an internet or cellular data connection. The map also integrates with the compass. This means that the map on the screen moves in real time to match the direction you are facing. This sets phones like the HTC Sensation apart from the competition, and shows the levels of innovation the Sense UI offers.

Auto Volume

If your HTC Sensation is in your pocket or handbag, the phone will realise this thanks to its proximity sensor and automatically ring louder. Once you take the phone out, the volume will resume back to normal. But the role of Sense does not stop there. Thanks to social networking integration, the caller’s Facebook status (if they are your Friend on Facebook) and Birthday will also be displayed.

Text Auto Reflow

When browsing the web on a smartphone, users often use the pinch to zoom function to zoom into an individual block of text to get a better view. With most smartphones, once you have zoomed, the text will remain in the same layout. This is all well and good, but it also means that the text will go off the screen so you will also have to scroll from side to side and up and down to read the whole thing. With the HTC Sensation and other devices with HTC Sense 3.0 though, the whole block of text is automatically resized to fit the screen. So not only is the text the right size, but the layout is changed to make it easier to read the whole thing.

Flip To Mute

If you are in a situation such as a business meeting or in a public place where it would be inconvenient to get a phone call, the flip to mute function is very handy. If you get a phone call when it would be rude to answer, you simply turn the phone over. It will then automatically stop ringing and vibrating, allowing the caller to leave a voicemail, so you will also not appear rude by hanging up.

These are just some of the solutions to everyday problems that the HTC Sense 3.0 UI offers. This is one of the biggest attributes to HTC handsets, and combined with its powerful hardware, the HTC Sensation makes a great smartphone for all kinds of user.
