Tablet or Smartphone Whats your Take

However, the limelight has been stolen by none other than the tablets. Yes, these smart hand held devices can easily fit in your bags, in carry-slings and or even in some large-sized pockets(if you’re lucky enough). The tablets have that immense potential to soon take over the booming smartphone industry over the next decade or so, all due a wide variety of reasons. Let’s take a look at some of them:-

Size and mobility

Tablets come in either ten or seven-inch versions and can easily fit into a handbag, but, however a smartphone can easily slip into your jeans pocket.

Tablets are a light and not that heavy whence compared with smartphones. Extremely portable and mobile and also facilitates typing as the screen size is also bigger. If you want to watch movies or write emails while – maybe waiting in an airport lounge or standing on the bus, a tablet is the best choice under such scenarios. Tablets also have a significantly better battery life but it’s not different from a smartphone.

Multimedia

Tablets, with a slightly better battery life is also handled better in hands. This makes them a better option if you want to watch a film or read whilst on the move.

Juxtaposed with the smartphone, the bigger screen and higher memory capacity (ROM) in tablets make it a better option for multimedia per se. Streaming media online is also very interactive and enjoyable with the tablets than with the smaller phones.

Many high-end phones can now stream media, from BBC iPlayer to Netflix, but their small screens make for a poor experience.  

Operating systems/ Software

The tablet has many similarities in this with the smartphone. The O.S is somewhat designed on a similar front keeping in mind the user-friendly interface. Also, many applications and various software’s for tablets enable a wide range of functions to be performed supplementing every smartphone requirement. The tablet can perform an array of operations that are renowned for smartphones, and perhaps more. From calling, texting, reading and drawing the tablet can out makeover the smartphone in almost every department.

Connectivity The wireless connectivity with tablets is also restricted and pretty much the same as the smartphone. Whereas a lappy has multiple sockets, tablets usually only have a couple of connection jacks and phones have just one or perhaps two!

The connectivity functions are not that different but Smartphones have a slight advantage in this with a wider compatibility network.

The Verdict

A tablet's functionally lies somewhere between a smartphone and small laptop, and much of it overlap. Tablets are great as a secondary device, although a large number of people are increasingly switching to tablets.

Recommendation: I recommend you to go ahead with the tablet over a smartphone as it’s very portable for watching films, browsing the web and keeping in touch with people via email and Skype. Overall, these feisty devices are fantastic media assistants that to pops in your bag, and beat most smartphones in terms of battery life.
