The HTC Sensation has recently replaced the HTC Desire HD as the manufacturer’s flagship smartphone. It boasts a spec list matched by very few other handsets, and looks set to prove popular.

One of the main draws for many users when choosing a smartphone is the quality of the camera. In this article I will take a look at the camera on the HTC Sensation,The Awesome HTC Sensation Boasts The Ultimate In Cameraphone Technology Articles and see how the handset fairs as a cameraphone.

Resolution

One of the most important factors when determining the quality of a camera is its resolution. The HTC Sensation boats an 8 megapixel camera with a resolution of 3264x 2448. This is used to measure the amount of pixels which make up a photograph, with the higher number meaning a better quality picture. As you can see, the HTC Sensation’s camera certainly offers an impressive resolution, resulting in clear, high quality digital photos.

Video Capture

Any new smartphone comes with the ability to shoot video footage. In fact, you would be hard-pressed to find a handset released in the last few months which can’t record video in 720p HD. The HTC Sensation actually goes one better on this front; with the ability to shoot full 1080p high definition. This means it can join the ranks of only a small number of phones which boast this capability, so it trumps the majority of its competition in this respect. If you own a compatible television which is able to display 1080p HD, you even have the luxury of streaming your handiwork directly and wirelessly thanks to a TV-out port and DLNA connectivity respectively. When using the HTC Sensation to record video footage, the sound is even recorded in top quality thanks to stereo microphones. The handset also boasts a front facing camera (VGA quality); ideal for self portrait photos or for video calls.

Extra Features

Of course, the resolution and the video capture capabilities are important parts of any camera phone, but there are a number of features which bring the package together to make it easy to use, and produce better results. The HTC Sensation has several such features. For example, the phone’s camera is equipped with both autofocus and touch focus. Autofocus automatically zooms to the correct distance for maximum convenience, whereas the latter allows users to zoom in on a more specific area of the frame, simply by touching the screen. Image stabilization is also included, a feature which eliminates blur from occurring when the handset is moved slightly during the process of taking a picture. Face detection is also on hand to zoom in on the most appropriate part of the frame automatically, again adding to the convenience; however this feature can be disabled should the user wish. Thanks to the phone’s built in GPS, geo-tagging is also included. This automatically records the location at which the camera was used and displays this on a map, allowing users to browse the photos by location simply by touching the on-screen map. Of course, a flash is also included to overcome the obstacle of low lighting conditions; in this case a super bright dual-LED flash.

As you can see, the camera on the HTC Sensation is rather advanced, and has many of the features you would expect to find in a standalone digital camera. Of course there is much more to this device than the camera, but if this is a feature of any importance to you, you can be sure that the HTC Sensation will not disappoint.
