Mobile phones have become an important necessity of our life. I think if we have to live our lives for a day without this menacing need,The Best Mobile Operators in India and Why! Articles we would fail miserably. If I am attending a boring lecture, my cell phone acts as my life saver. If my network ditches me, I have to endure the lecture and the toll that it takes on my mental health. In spite of these ‘advantages’, we still crib about Airtel’s lack of network, Vodafone’s poor customer service and the list just is endless.

No phone service provider is flawless. They suffer from their respective issues. For instance, my friend used the power of social media to bring out the flaw of Vodafone. His number had been disconnected despite the brand being in possession of all the required documents. Their argument was that the address was not matching, which was quite silly as a Passport is issued after address verification by the Police. My friend led a powerful campaign against the brand on Twitter. Due to his efforts, ‘#BetterThanVodafoneService’ was quite a trend on the social platform and Vodafone had to immediately attend to his complaint. I must admit that some of the tweets were quite hilarious. For example, “Listening to tape of Dolores Umbridge laugh for a day #BetterThanVodafoneService.” It is no surprise that online customer reviews have not been in favor of the brand that popularized the idea of having a pug as a pet.

Airtel users who have been complaining about increased call rates, the next part of information will increase the size of your frowns. The brand has raised their voice call rates. They have attributed the rise to increasing operational costs and various other reasons. I am sure everybody has heard about the famous herd mentality. If Airtel is hiking their call rates, others will follow. Idea has increased the call tariffs in some parts of the country. If Idea users were enjoying promotional offers, those have been withdrawn. Good times do come to an end! Honestly, I don‘t think Idea can be included in any list like ‘Best Mobile Operators in India.’

Though all service providers have been criticised for various aspects, they are using novel ideas to retain their consumer base. Airtel ensured that one of their customers gets some cool fashion accessories from a reputed brand on flashing a post paid bill. They collaborated with the fashion brand to reward their loyal customers with awesome gift vouchers. I am sure after reading about such a development, complaints about Airtel’s hike in prices will cease to exist.

You may be wondering that suddenly why have brands become generous. It is after the advent of a system like Mobile Number Portability. This is just one of the attempts in which brands are trying to retain their customers. I feel that the move has been desperate on the part of Airtel because statistics have revealed that Airtel “has had a run of 12 consecutive quarter losses, has been bearing the brunt of MNP churn, with subscribers leaving in droves.”

Airtel has stepped up the quality of the competition with their interesting offer; Vodafone is also racing ahead with its interesting offer of ‘Earn and Burn Programme.’ The scheme was valid for premium card holders of Standard Chartered and HSBC. Due to the popularity of the scheme, the brand was able to retain its loyalists and a number of people were added to their increasing list of customer base. Due to such schemes, I am sure Vodafone can be considered for a place in a list like top mobile operators in India.

Though it has been a turbulent time for service providers, 2013 spells good news for Indian Telecom operators. It has been reported that in the year, nearly 49 million users would be added to the customer base of the service providers. The good news is that most of these additions will be from the rural sector. It shows that the potential of the interiors of India is being realized. Internet penetration will also increase in rural areas. It is another positive achievement. After the increase in the competition, it would be interesting to observe the dynamics of all the rival brands. With such interesting ideas being implemented, the battle has definitely heated up!
