There are multiple reasons for an ecommerce website to not work well for you.
If you do have an ecommerce website and if some one is visiting your website, one thing is solid and clear is that the visitor has an intension of buying something from you. All you need to do is just guide the visitors and help them find what they are looking for on your website i.e. to take them easily from product page to check out.
Now then, visitors on your website are ready to spend money and its up to you how quickly you want to take it.
There are few things which you must take care of if you want your ecommerce website to work well for you.
1. Don’t Force Registration: Do not force your website visitors to register during the checkout process. If they click on checkout, that is usually a safe assumption that they have made a decision to purchase. Please get out of their way so you can take their money as quickly as possible before I change my mind. Even if you want them to register with your website present them with the registration form only after checkout process is completed.
2. Write for your Visitors: Remember search engine is not your targeted customer but your visitor is. Don’t stuff your product description or any other product related information with SEO keywords for the sole purpose of ranking higher on search engines like Google. Because even after ranking higher on search engines if your customer gets confused with your content, ultimately your website will not work well for you.
3. Out of Stock Items: Don’t let people add something to the cart if later you will tell them that it is out of stock. If you already know that something is out of stock, show that upfront on the product page so it can save time.
4. Remove Empty Categories: If you have empty categories which have no products, remove them immediately.
5. Keep Your Home Page Clean: Don’t put all your products and promotion home page as it will look crowded and confusing. Keep your home page clean by presenting few important and popular products and promotion on home page.
6. Don’t Ask for Too Much Info: Keep it short and swift. Don’t irritate your potential buyer asking them useless information.
7. Don’t Afraid of Negative Reviews: If you email your customer for their reviews and if it happens to be negative don’t change it. As it will create an honest atmosphere for your visitors.
8. Show Final Price of the Product Early On: Disclose the final price including taxes early on as people don’t like the hidden costs that come out at the point of checkout.
9. Easy Security Checks: It is good if you are concern about your website visitor’s safety and want to make sure that they are human. But 8-9-10 digit captcha can spoil the mood of the buyer. So try and keep things simple.
10. Do Not Advertise: If you really want to succeed with your ecommerce website you must not place adsense advertisement on your website as it will distract your visitors and potential buyers.
Well, if you take enough care of the above ten points, there are distinct possibilities of your ecommerce website being successful online. Just keep one thing in mind, doesn’t matter how complex your business may be; customer always prefers an easy, simple and intuitive shopping experience.
