How Often Should a Blogger Post
Find out how often you should post on your blog to be successful.
You'd think this would be a simple question to answer - it's not.
I'll tell you what I practice and hope to hear your ideas as well. During my learning days of blogging I would post once a week,
maybe twice a week. I only felt a post was necessary when I thought of something to write about or if something dawned on me. Obviously, this wasn't going to get me very far in blogging. Not having enough content to generate interest was going to be my problem finding followers.
So, what did I learn from this terrible move...more posts = more quality content = more followers. I typically like posting 3-4 times a week. When I do post, it's usually during the week. The weekends are times when I find people spending less time at the computer and more time out with the family. Posting articles on the weekend, in my opinion, can be a waste of material. You spend valuable time writing content to share with people only to get half the attention it could get.
And, I too like taking a break from the computer.
When articles are published, they are usually published early morning. I do have a full time job so I take advantage of the time I have in the early morning to press the "publish" button. It doesn't take much time and it doesn't get in the way of other work needing to get done. On the days I do have time, I read other articles I'm subscribed to. This is also why I publish in the morning. People have more time. Once the day gets going, people don't have as much time to surf, read or do what they wish.
To sum this up, I post 3-4 quality articles a week roughly around 8:00 am.
What not to do...
I'm not hear to mention any names so I won't. I was once subscribed to a blog feed on entrepreneurship. I would get a new email 3-4 times a day with new articles. As much as it was informative, it was annoying. The posts were long and the topics didn't differ enough for me. In essence, I was reading the same article 3-4 times a day, just written a different way. I lost interest very quickly.
My #1 takeaway from this - Don't spam your followers!
