Every day we are faced with choices - some big and some small. Some are easy and others more of a challenge. How we make decisions has a direct impact on our lives.
Choices are all around us. I’m not sure we realize how often we are presented with them. Some we make automatically, without even thinking about them. Some we consciously consider before we choose.
And still others we don’t make at all – we avoid them. What’s interesting about these is that we are still choosing. This brings to mind the song ‘Free Will’ by Rush. One lyric in the song says ‘If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.’
This is important to point out because in every case, our action or inaction has an impact on us and on the people around us.
Think about this: people stay in jobs they hate, in failed marriages, in one-sided friendships because they won’t make a choice to stay or go. They have a list of things they should do – things that would move their business further, their health further, their life further. They don’t take action – they procrastinate. Believe it or not, that’s a choice. The choice they’ve made is to remain unhappy, dissatisfied, unfulfilled.
What would happen if they chose happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction? What impact would that have on their lives? On the lives of the people around them?
The key is to look at it through the right window. When you see all of these options as choices, and realize that not deciding is still making a choice, you will see the opportunities before you. You can start knocking them down one choice at a time. The relief and satisfaction you’ll feel will energize you to continue.
I choose happiness, fulfillment, satisfaction. The choices I make each day will help me achieve my goals.
Why not join me? Why not decide today to actively make choices as they are presented? Choices that will help you achieve your goals. Need some help? Make the choice to get it!
