To date, the now-author of "The $100 Startup" has traveled into or through 175 countries and he has never had a full-time, paying job, yet he gets paid for his ideas.

That's the key to his success: come up with an idea (say a better way to harvest rice or maybe a better way to tie bails of grain) and sell them locally, earning the money for them and then moving on to the next stop where you see something that needs fixing and you figure out how to fix it.

This isn't the lifestyle for everyone. There are many people out there who need and crave the regular weekly or bi-weekly paycheck and hate the idea of living on their wits, but, then there are those like Chris who has a knack for looking at a problem from a new angle and then, after showing his patron or sponsor the fix, ensuring that it works and then moving on.

It doesn't even have to be this quick. If it is an area with a large number of visible problems that need fixing then it is quite possible that you might be staying around longer than you thought as you fix the problems that need fixing or suggesting solutions to others for problems that also need fixing.

Chris looks not only at what he and others like him do - they work on a problem fix it and move on - but he has also documented cases where people have started with as little a $100 in the bank and have, over time, created viable livings of $50,000 per year or more just by getting their projects working.

The funny thing about a book like Chris' is that you would expect him to hold something back, just enough to ensure that he would be the "guru" from whom you would have to buy the "starter kit" that would put you on "the road to Internet and income freedom," but, he doesn't.

Instead, Chris takes you inside the work that the top 50 challenges he has identified and provides you with exactly how the entrepreneur came along and told the people involved how to fix it. As far as we can tell, Chris has held nothing back. It just takes hard work, an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to identify a challenge that has to be met and filled.

That he is willing to share how each person, including himself, has answered the challenges presented shows that Chris is honest in his work and wants to help others achieve what he sees is the potential success that is available to anyone who just wants to put in the time. No, there is no magic elixir and not special curtain behind which a "great and powerful" wizard is hiding pulling levers and switches. It just takes work and the ability to see a challenge through.
