Here are three ways of making a homemade projector screen
Projector screens are usually expensive (costing between $200 and $1000). The cool thing is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money on the screens—you can easily make them in your home. To help you out here are some of the ways in which you can make them:
White Sheet
This is a good temporary projector screen. You should hang a white sheet on a clothesline using clothespins. If you want to watch your favorite movie indoors you should hang the sheet on an indoor wall. To prevent the sheet from falling you should use small tacks across the top.
White Board
Here you need to buy a large poster board. The good thing with the board is that it’s thicker than paper thus more durable. It’s also not as heavy as a cardboard thus you will have an easy time moving it around.
To make the board more pleasing to look at you should build a screen frame from 1-by-2 pine boards. For extra support you should screw the white board to the wood frame. For additional features you should add hinges to the top of the frame so that you are able to lift and secure the screen out of the way.
Paint the Wall
Are you looking for something more permanent? You should consider painting the wall. Here you should peel off any loose paint using a scraper and then cover the wall using a thin, even layer of drywall coating. You should then sand the wall perfectly smooth and then seal it with a high-quality oil-based primer.
For a durable finish you should use at least three coats of primer. For the screen to reflect well you should use high-gloss oil enamel white reflective paint. To clearly define the outside boarder of the screen it’s wise that you install a dark wood trim. You should also consider installing a movable curtain to the top of the screen in order to protect the surface from dust.
