Hiring the Best Shipping Company
Hiring the right shipping company can take the stress out of making sure that your packages get where they need to go.
Sending out packages used to be a fairly straight forward process. You go to UPS and pay for the postage and that's the end of it. If you send out multiple packages or extra-large parcels then you might find the process to be more complicated than just heading to your nearest post office. What you need is a shipping company to take care of sending out your packages. How sure are you that you have the right company though?
For starters if you send out a lot of packages,

you need a shipping company that comes to you. You don't need to go by their offices every day just to drop off yet another package. That takes a lot of time out of your business day, time that can be better spent running your business. It's their business to get the packages out for you, so why should you do the biggest part of the work. Once you've set up your account with them, you should be able to schedule pick-ups and let them come to you. Handling postage is something that you'll deal with when you set the account up with them.
If you specialize in items that are often bulky, odd shaped, or large you need to make sure the shipping company that you have picked can accommodate you. You don't want them sending a little truck to pick up what they think is a regular sized box. You need to make sure that they have the equipment necessary to transport your packages to their sorting area so that the package can be sent. Sure if it's really large you may have people that can load the package for them but how are they going to get it off their truck and sent if they don't have similar equipment at their offices. When you are talking to them about setting up an account you need to make it clear what size parcels you have.
When you are checking out a shipping company you need to know what their track record is. If they have a habit of packages getting lost, broken, or arriving late then you probably don't want to work with them. If what you send out is very fragile you need to know how they will take care of the package so that it isn't damaged in shipment. They need to take extra measures to ensure that the package isn't jostled more than absolutely necessary. Don't rely on a fragile sticker to convey your meaning, make sure they know about the packages in advance.
Like any business you choose to do business with picking a shipping company is going to take a lot of homework. Once you've done all your homework you can feel confident knowing what is sent to your customers will get there on time and in one piece.
