K- Method of inserting a column into a Gantt chart

A Gant chart is a bar chart used to exhibit a project schedule and is compatible various applications. It could be used with applications like MS Project, MS Visio or MS Excel by inserting a column. This chart displays the start and end dates of the different tasks that are required to be completed for a particular project. With the help of the Gant chart, a person can see the time frame for the project horizontally on the top of the chart, while each project task is listed vertically.

Ways to insert a Gantt chart for a few applications

Ø  to insert a Gant chart using MS Visio, he needs to click on the column heading, right of the place where he would want to place the Column. The person needs to go the main menu and select “Insert Column”, then select “Column type” option and select the suitable type of column that is needed or if there are no options available that suits his requirement, he can select the “user defined” option. And click on “OK”

Ø  To insert a Gant chart using MS Excel, the person needs to enter the required data in the column and click anywhere in the chart. Once the chart toolbar is displayed,he then needs to select the "Chart Area" from the drop-down menu and drag the pointer, a new column can be incorporated. The Gant chart will get updated and will display the new column on completion of the above mentioned steps.

Ø  To insert a Gant chart in MS Project, the person should go to the "Sheet View. Then he needs to choose the column in the right of the place where he wishs the new column to be displayed. Afterwhich select the "Column" from the "Insert" menu.. Once the person inserts the column, then he needs to enter a title as well as a field name, align the data and the text.
