If moving your office sounds as stressful as giving up chocolate,Maintaining Productivity While Moving Your Office Articles fret not.  There are a few steps that will ensure your relocation goes smooth.  After all, moving your business usually represents interruption of productivity and even profit.

The best way to handle it is by hiring a reputable moving company.  Don’t try to do everything yourself.  Remember that although you’re probably a pro at multi-tasking, you have to keep your hands in the everyday business.  So let the experts go to work.  Relocation company professionals know exactly how to handle moving heavy desks and delicate equipment such as computers.

If at all possible, plan for a weekend move.  This way you‘ll be able to install all electronic equipment and ensure it works right.  Request that all telephone systems be placed in service ahead of time so as not to have further disruption of business.  Visit the new space beforehand to see where everything will be placed.  And if the budget allows, use the move as a reason to update any old equipment.

So if you still have the old fashioned computer monitors, consider donating them and buying the newer flat panel screens that occupy less space.  Check out upgrades for software and new technological advancements in paper shredders, laser printers or other products that would help you operate more efficiently.

And do expect to be closed for a few hours or even a few days.  Moving can bring totally unexpected events i.e. the paint has not dried or the movers have not delivered the furniture as expected.

And if you’re not technology savvy, have someone assist you.  This way you can concentrate on organizing and setting up the office the way you want it while an expert sets up the networks, upgrades your systems and ensures it all works without problems.

Before anything, remember to notify your clientele and vendors of your impending move.  Provide them with accurate directions or a map to your new place.  If possible, inform the general public by placing an ad in a local newspaper, preferably one with high circulation.  A move might be a boost in your cash flow.

Remain calm and your office move will be easier than expected.
