I started to use this one sentence when I network with others online and started to attract a lot more leads.
As you may or may not know already, I do a lot of my networking online now because COVID has put a halt to all in-person events.
Whenever I meet someone new, one of three things would happen:
The person wouldn't reply back to my messages.
We’d have a long chat that would lead nowhere and eventually let the conversation die.
Or we’d immediately schedule a virtual coffee chat together.
That’s the ideal outcome. But recently I decided to do something different.
I did one simple thing that skipped all the endless chatter and turned the person I’m talking to into an instant lead.
Instead of them asking me the typical networking question,
“What do you do?”
They tell me,
“I might need your help. What services do you provide? Let’s talk.”
And so this one sentence? I think I’ve kept you waiting long enough.
“How can I help you?”
That’s it.
A simple, non-magical, yet powerful question that puts you in the position as your potential client’s savior, their problem solver.
And there are ways you can strengthen that position. One of the best ways is to regularly email your readers.
