As modern day consumer demands soar,Royal Mail Same Day Delivery Jobs Articles the Royal Mail is having to adapt to satisfy customers and keep pace with the competition. One of the key areas is same day delivery, which the Royal Mail now offers with their high-tech Same Day service. They are currently heavily recruiting owner drivers, so if you are a courier seeking employment opportunities then I urge you to read on.

Their licensed owner drivers are seen as business partners, which mean that you can benefit from good rates, high potential and flexible working hours. So, what exactly are they looking for aside from owner drivers who will “go the extra mile” in more ways than one?

Same Day Driver Requirements:

Van

No points for guessing this one. In order to represent the Royal Mail, your van must be no older than 8 years, in good condition and have rear ‘barn-opening’ doors (don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be red). It must also fit into one of these categories:

  • Small van – Able to carry up to 121cm x 101cm pallet with max height of 100cm
  • Short wheel base van – Able to carry multiple packages or up to two 121cm x 101cm pallets with max height of 152cm
  • Long wheel base van – Capable of carrying multiple packages or up to three 121cm x 101cm pallets with max height of 152cm
  • Extra-long wheel base van – Able to carry multiple packages or up to four 121cm x 101cm pallets with max height of 152cm

Insurance – Minimum Requirements

  • Specialist courier policy which covers ‘the carriage of goods for hire or reward’
  • Public Liability cover to £2 million minimum
  • Goods in Transit cover to £10,000 minimum

If you meet these requirements, simply head over to the Royal Mail website to apply for a position. Once they confirm that you meet their requirements, you will need to complete a few online forms and send over the necessary documentation. After the paperwork is checked, they will reach out to take a licence fee of £30 and send your details for vetting.

For those that pass the security checks, Royal Mail will be in touch within 2 weeks to take the £90 fee to use their tracking app (this makes you more visible to operators and increases the likelihood of you finding work).

Finally, your details will be set up by the operations team and you will receive your ID badge and welcome pack through the post. You can then start earning money as a business partner of the Royal Mail.

I think that this is a great opportunity for any courier driver seeking work. In addition to the rates, opportunities and flexibility, it also gives you the opportunity to work closely with one of Britain’s most treasured companies.
